Ja, wat is er toch ineens in Trump
gevaren? Hij leek aan de wensen van de markt gehoor te geven vorige week,
bevestigde het bestaan van een Trump put, totdat hij op vrijdag weer eens
driftig aan het twitteren sloeg.
Eerder deze week leek Trump te buigen (‘blink’)
voor China om al te veel economisch onheil te voorkomen. De kerstinkopen moeten
niet al te erg gehinderd worden. Tariefverhoging werd uitgesteld. Huawei mag 90
dagen zijn gang gaan.
Why does China have to agree to
anything, given that Trump is now negotiating with himself to keep his
corporate donors happy?
For China, this
is a big "win."

teweeg. Trump was ineens de zwakkeling, die buigt vanwege korte termijn economisch
gewin. Hij laat ineens China winnen. Xi geeft nu natuurlijk al helemaal niets
meer toe. Trump beseft het nog niet, maar hij heeft de handelsoorlog verloren.

Trump legde zich niet neer bij de analyse dat hij de handelsoorlog heeft verloren en gaat onverdroten voort met de situatie erger te maken.

Nee, dat is nu volledig kansloos. China straks first en America second. En China groeit harder en nu ook in dollars meer dan de VS (als yuan niet ineen
zijgt).
Het lijkt er nu toch echt op dat Trump te ver is gegaan en dat de markt dat via een correctie duidelijk gaat maken. Die volgens Trump uiteraard is veroorzaakt door Powell die solliciteert naar een enkeltje Guantanomo Bay.
Fanatieke aanhangers dwingen Trump door te gaan. Trump geeft Powell de schuld en door het daar helemaal aan te wijten is de Trump put ingestort.
